iOS 11 – How to Tell Which Apps Won’t Work

iOS 11 brings a number of enhancements and new features to your iPhone and iPad. In this new update Apple has switched from 32 bit apps to 64 bit apps. If one or more of your apps have not been updated for the new system, it won’t work with iOS 11. Here’s how to tell which apps won’t work with iOS 11.

Go to Settings > General > About
Look for Applications in the list that appears.
Tap Applications.

You’ll get the App Compatibility screen and see a list of apps under the heading “No Updates Available”

Note you do not need to be running iOS 11 to see this list. In fact, I recommend you wait a few weeks before upgrading. Minor bugs often appear when a new operating system goes public and millions more begin using it. Wait a few weeks so Apple can fix the small flaws missed in the pre-release versions.

The only app appearing is Rummikub, no updates available. I paid fir this game. Should I delete it. My IPad is locked in the landscape position. I don’t know what the side switch is.

Hi Donna! iOS 11 is compatible with your iPad mini 4 and is available for upgrading now. However, I’d wait another week or so. Problems with a new Apple iOS generally show up in the first few weeks after the public release. So far the only major issue issue appears to be reports of shorter battery life for the iPhone when compared to iOS 10. Wait another week or two. By then we should see Apple release iOS 11.0.1 or 11.1 to address any minor issues. Since you asked, I’ve published a list of all iOS 11 compatible devices. Here’s the link and thanks for the inspiration! http://ipadacademy.com/ios-11-list-of-compatible-devices/
