iMovie on the iPad – Second Thoughts on the First iPad

In a post back on June 11, I wrote this about Apple’s announcement of iMovie mobile on the new iPhone:
“There is now a mobile version of the video editing application that comes as part of the iLife suite for Macs. Perhaps not a complete surprise, given the capability of the A4 processor in the iPad and coming soon in the new iPhone. If the new iPhone can run a mobile version of this program, surely the iPad can.”
Second thoughts: Perhaps not the current version of the iPad. The new iPhone 4 has 512MB of RAM, double the RAM of the current iPad or the iPhone 3GS (256MB). Though most have focused on the support for multitasking the additional RAM provides, it’s likely that 512MB is also needed to run mobile iMovie.
