The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Communication Enhancement (AAC‐RERC) recently released a whitepaper to raise issues related to mobile technologies and AAC Apps and to encourage discussion and collaboration among AAC stakeholders. Researchers interviewed more than 25 AAC “thought leaders” between January and March, 2011, representing multiple stakeholder groups. The document offers a brief historical perspective and informed view on the direction of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) services and technologies on mobile devices.
