Leading faculty development in technology is perhaps my favorite professional activity. Last week I worked as part of a team with approximately 100 teachers from Pennsylvania, teaching them the basics of using the iPad. One of the questions I was asked is “How did you get your bookmarks to show up in Safari on your iPad?” Here’s how.
1. Connect your iPad to your computer and wait for iTunes to open.
2. In the left column, select your iPad under Devices.
3. In the right column, select the Info tab.
4. Scroll down to the section marked Other.
5. Mac users: Check the Sync Safari bookmarks checkbox.
Windows users: Check the Sync bookmarks with checkbox and select Internet Explorer from the dropdown menu.
6. Click the Apply or Sync button.
To Display the Bookmarks Bar in Safari on the iPad, select Settings, tap Safari, and set Always Show Bookmarks Bar to “On”
Your bookmarks bar now appears in Safari on your iPad.
If you use Firefox, you’ll need to first export your bookmarks, then import into Safari on the Mac or IE on Windows. Then follow the steps above. A better option may be the new
Firefox Home app from Mozilla.
